The PACE 2000 VideoConference Based Goniometer (VCBG) receives its patent #011557100 valid as of 30 Nov. 2001, Ref # VCBG 2001. The VCBG has also been filed for international patents.


Evelyn Shore, a member of PACE 2000's Board of Directors, has been featured in the magazine Fifty-Five Plus (November 2002 edition Vol 14, issure III, Voulunteer Spotlight section, page 6). Click here to read the article

click to enlargeOn Oct. 29, 2002, PACE 2000 held a training session for newly recruited intergenerational coordinators. During the session former coordinators recounted their experiences and passed on advice to the new recruits. Awards were presented to departing and long serving volunteers. Read in the Intergenerational Forum what an out going coordinator wrote about his experience.

click to enlargePACE 2000 held a Board Retreat on Sept. 15, 2002. Two new Videoconference products developed by PACE 2000 were demonstrated. The Board members and guests forged a five year strategic plan and vision, which included a resolve to continue to promote intergenerational relationships via its programs. Special guest Max Keeping of CJOH-TV delivered the opening address, acknowledging and encouraging the participants to continue their important work locally and abroad.

TV stations New-RO and CJOH aired interviews with PACE 2000 volunteers and seniors regarding the benefits of tele-physiotherapy and the evaluations using PACE 2000's Videoconference Based Goniometer, VCBG (patent pending)

 




Dr. Bernard is the MC at the partyOn July 24 PACE 2000 celebrated its Cross-cultural video-conference programs with a party held at the Centre d'Accueil Champlain Seniors Centre. The seniors shared songs with the young intergenerational co-ordinators and friends from the Catholic Immigration Center. Awards were presented in appreciation of the efforts of the participants of the VC programs and finally prizes were distributed. Visit the Gallery to see more pictures.

Dr. Bernard has written a review in French of the Canadian Society of Telehealth's recommendations to the Romanow Commission on the Future of Health Care. This review was published in the Spring 2002 edition of the Community Supporter, Les soutiens de la Communauté, newsletter of the Ontario Community Support Association, OCSA

An article entitled "Le Goniomètre de Visioconférence: description, fiabilité et application au suivi des aînés dans leur domicile après chirurgie orthopédique" has been accepted for presentation at the Neuvièmes Journées Francophones d'Informatique Médicale 6-7 mai 2002- Québec 2002 and publication in its proceedings. PACE 2000 participated in the Job Connect Job Fair held at the Ottawa RA Center on Mar. 14, 2002. We would like to thank the persons who visited our booth and to express a hearty welcome to those who agreed to join our network as intergenerational co-ordinators. Welcome and thank you!

 




Friday March 8, 2002 University of Ottawa Physiotherapy Physiotherapy Students presented their 4th year research project on the PACE 2000 Videoconference Based Goniometer (VCBG) in an upper body range of motion study at the Ottawa Hospital. The presentation was well received and elicited numerous questions from the audience.

Welcome to the volunteers who have started the new term. The 10 new intergenerational coordinators, include high school co-op as well as university students and who have interests which include engineering, kinesiology, psychology, political sciences....
